WABA is working with local advocates, government officials and transportation planners on the rapid implementation of the Alexandria Bicycle Master Plan.
Thanks to the efforts of WABA volunteers and local bike advocates, the new Woodrow Wilson Bridge will include a bike and pedestrian path along the north span. This critical new trail facility will connect the Mt Vernon Trail in Alexandria with National Harbor in Prince George's County. WABA is also working with Prince George's County on better bike connections from the Wilson Bridge Trail to the Oxon Cove Trail in DC.
The City of Alexandria, in partnership with WABA and National Park Service, is recruiting and training volunteer teenage students to help champion bicycling throughout the City. The goals of the Local Motion Bicycle Ambassadors program are to increase the number of trips being made by bicycle into and around Alexandria; encourage safe bicycling practices; and help bicyclists, motorists, and pedestrians better share roads and trails.
