

May is National Bike Month and WABA's in full celebration with a bunch of great events to get you in the spirit of life on two wheels!

A bike rack will be set up out front for additional parking
WABA membership happy hours are a great chance to meet and mingle with other WABA members, staff, and volunteers. Members will be able to take advantage of drink specials while newbies can get a drink on us if you join WABA on the spot. Members- bring a friend who joins on the spot and we'll buy you a drink on the house as well!
As usual, there will be a raffle for some WABA goodies so show up and spread the word!

As a completely emission-free form of transportation, bicycling is one of the simplest ways to reduce our carbon footprint and make our communities more livable. Yet, to make bicycling feasible requires specific infrastructure, financing, and a commitment of political and public will. Please join Swiss and American experts from government and the private sector to discuss strategies for making our cities and nations more bicycle friendly. Panel presentation will be followed by audience Q&A and discussion:

Meet up with your neighbors at one of 26 pit stops all over the region, ride into the city with experienced commuter convoys and meet your colleagues at Freedom Plaza. Washington Area Bicyclist Association and Commuter Connections invite you to try
bicycling to work as an alternative to solo driving. Help the washington region become a better place to ride. Bike to Work Day is a FREE event and open to all area commuters.

WABA and the Washington City Paper are teaming up to bring you the second annual Bike Prom! This event benefits the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) and reaches out to the growing younger, urban cycling community in the DC area. This year's event is taking place on Saturday, May 16 in the middle of National Bike Month and a day after the DC area's Bike to Work Day celebration. This fun bash will feature local DJs spinning tunes all night, all the dancing you can handle, ample bike parking, raffle prizes, photo booth, and crowning of the Bike Prom Ki
ng and Queen.

WABA is please to announce its support of the 2009 edition of the Air Force Cycling Classic, Saturday, May 30th and Sunday, May 31st. These two days of events will allow more opportunities for cycling enthusiasts of all abilities to participate in this National Capital Region signature event.
The weekend’s cycling will begin in Arlington on Saturday, May 30th with amateur and professional criterium races in Clarendon. Then on Sunday, May 31st, cycling enthusiasts of all abilities can challenge themselves on the U.S. Air Force Cycling Classic’s 12 1/2 kilometer circuit in Crystal City during the Crystal Ride. Following this amateur, non-competitive ride, Pros will again take to the streets.
