About Vision Zero in the Washington Region

Vision Zero is the commitment to end all traffic fatalities and serious injuries. Crashes are avoidable and can be prevented through a swift system wide effort that emphasizes street design to protect vulnerable users.

About the Summit

As the region grows, so too does the need for a more integrated and systematic approach to traffic safety. In the past, the Summit has brought together thought leaders, elected officials, decision-makers, and the private sector to discuss best practices and regional commitments towards zero traffic fatalities. This year, we will continue the discussion with renewed vigor and greater opportunities to present best practices to protect vulnerable users. The 2019 Washington Region Vision Zero Summit is a platform for regional commitments and best practice to be discussed, made, and shared.

What’s New in 2019?

This year we’re incorporating a FREE Community Summit that will be held from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 at the Anacostia Playhouse (2020 Shannon Pl SE, Washington, DC 20020). The goal of this event is to build an inclusive and diverse stakeholder model integrating community feedback in to the traditional Summit and to provide real-world examples from the region. Please feel free to join us on one or both of the days.

We’re looking forward to working with you again this year!
