Let’s Talk Trails, Bike Lanes & Safe Streets on Sunday Afternoon in Wheaton
WABA is dedicated to making Montgomery County a great place to bike. That means new trails and protected bike lanes and safe streets for all. It means building community, engaging county and state officials, and effective organizing. Working together is a must, and it’s also enjoyable!
The 5th Great Montgomery County Bike Summit, taking place this Sunday afternoon, September 29, in Wheaton, is WABA’s major Montgomery County community-building / engagement / organizing event of the year. Please join us.
The summit runs from 2 pm to 5 pm. We’ve briefed the officials who will be speaking – they include State Highway Administrator Will Pines, Councilmember Natali Fani-González, House Environment and Transportation Chair Marc Korman – to allow plenty of time for attendee Q&A, and the mid-program break will be the perfect time to discuss concerns and explore solutions with them and fellow attendees.
An Effective Advocacy panel, composed of community advocates, will be a program centerpiece. We’re looking forward to it!
WABA’s mission statement reads:
WABA empowers people to ride bikes, build connections, and transform places. We fight for a just and sustainable transportation system where walking, biking, and transit are the best ways to get around.
A strong, engaged, informed community is essential if we’re going to win new trails and protected bike lanes and safer streets. This Sunday’s Bike Summit, with your participation, will help us grow the community we need to make Montgomery County a great place to bike.
See you then?
P.S. Summit check-in starts at 1:30 pm. Do stop by the Wheaton Arts Festival and Parade on Sunday before the summit. The parade starts at 10 am, in the Marian Fryer Town Plaza at 2424 Reedie Drive, Wheaton, MD 20902. It’ll be fun!
