WABA facilitates the Education and Encouragement pieces of District of Columbia Department of Transportation's Safe Routes to School Program by maintaining a cargo van containing bikes, helmets, and all materials necessary for delivery of the program. WABA staff schedule and teach classes in DC elementary schools during the school year and in DC Department of Recreation Centers in the summer months. WABA is no longer under contract with the state of Maryland to provide Youth Education in public schools. WABA staff currently schedule and administer the bicycle education program in Alexandria and Arlington in the form of bicycle rodeos with through sponsorship of Arlington county and Alexandria city government.
