WABA promotes bicycling throughout the region by hosting fun, safe, and accessible events and by partnering with other area groups who do the same. These events grow bicycling throughout our region, and the proceeds go to support our mission!
If you'd like to promote your ride, check out our Events Partnership Program.
UPCOMING WABA EVENTS
WABA's East of the River grant will wrap up its season with the first-ever Cap City Bike Expo. The expo will include a bike-vendor marketplace, musical acts DJ Underdog and DJ Native Sun, games, a photobooth, a raffle, crafts, bike art courtesy Honfleur Gallery, and panels discussing bike mobility in and around wards 7 and 8. It will also mark the official launch of the Black Thumbs Collective, a grassroots effort to empower east of the river residents with basic bike repair skills.
Local bike shops will be at the Expo showing off their products and providing mechanical expertise to attendees. Come ready to talk about the role of bikes and bike shops in your community! Childcare will be provided. It's free! RSVP here.
We're also in need of volunteers to help us pull off this multifaceted event. Sign up to volunteer here!
Our first-ever winter bike ride will take riders out of D.C. to Queen Anne Farm, near Bowie. Three route options are available: the Gala (15 miles), McIntosh (35 miles), or Honeycrisp (60 miles). The ride starts in Canal Park and ends at the nearby Park Tavern for a cider celebration. Snacks, but not lunch, will be provided. We'll provide the hot beverages and handwarmers! More information here. Register here ($20 members, $30 nonmembers, $45 to ride the Cider Ride and become a WABA member).
Our holiday party has one tradition: If you're not a member, we'll encourage you to join at the door. We'll post more details when they become available.
