Sponsored by New Belgium Brewing, Tour de Fat is a big, whimsical bike festival. It starts with a parade to Yards Park, where attendees can expect a festival jam-packed with entertainment, local vendors, and, of course, New Belgium beer. Costumes are heartily encouraged. See information on last year's Tour de Fat here. RSVP for this year's Tour de Fat on Facebook.
Check-in for the parade is at 10 a.m., and the parade starts rolling at 11 a.m. The party at Yards Park runs from 12 to 5 p.m. Tour de Fat is family-friendly---bring your kids! Check back here for news and updates on the great games, entertainment, performances and you can expect at Tour de Fat 2013!

Tour de Fat is free, but you'll need to register for the preceding parade to Yards Park. A small donation guarantees your registration: a $10 donation gets you the ride registration and a limited-edition D.C. Tour de Fat 2013 license plate (limited to the first 150 parade registrants), or you can simply register for $5. Register for the parade and see more information here.
One of the cornerstones of Tour de Fat is the opportunity for one attendee to trade their car for a bike. The selected winner will receive $2,500 to spend on a commuter bike of thier choice at a local bike shop. To enter, post a video on the D.C. Tour de Fat Facebook event page detailing why you should win the trade.
We can't pull off Tour de Fat without help from reliable volunteers. Are you one of them? We need beer pirates, a sexy setup crew, andfolks with big smiles to register riders. Volunteers get to attend a pre-TDF happy hour celebration, a New Belgium T-shirt, and drink tokens. Sign up here.
We also need trustworthy, confident cyclists to serve as ride marshals during the Tour de Fat bicycle parade, which starts at 11 a.m. (preceding the Tour de Fat party). If you'd like to marshal the ride, email email@example.com.
Get in on the Tour de Fat festivities early by coming to a pre-Tour party at ChurchKey on Thurs., May 30, 5-9 p.m. New Belgium will give away a cruiser bike and the evening will feature the brewery's beers on drafts, including Fat Tire, Rolle Bolle, Rampant Imperial IPA, Shift, 1554, Pluot, Paardebloem, Cascara Quad, Heavenly Fiejoa Tripel, and Transatlantique Krie (expect drink specials!).
You can pre-register for the parade and buy your raffle tickets in advance at ChurchKey---it'll feel great to beat the Saturday rush. All proceeds from Tour de Fat will support local bike-advocacy organizations.
