Happy Friday!
Happy Friday, {{$first_name}}. Here’s wishing you and your lungs a restful weekend. The wildfire smoke is supposed to taper off over the next few days.
Will a blanket of toxic smoke stretching from New York to the nation’s capital be the wake-up-call our elected leaders need to act with the urgency required to mitigate climate change and break our dependence on burning fossil fuels, or will this just become a part of summer in North America?
Rather than dwell on the distressingly obvious answer to that question, let’s look at some:
Things to do and things to know:
Join us and Greater Greater Washington at the Pride Parade tomorrow!
Or go enjoy Trolley Trail Day in Hyattsville.
Sign up for the Washington Region Vision Zero Summit, which is next Wednesday
Check out these three positions we’re hiring for:
Check out DDOT’s plans for bus lanes and protected bike lanes on Columbia Road NW.
A fun route idea for the weekend:
Quick! Grab a sandwich and your camping gear and catch the 5:40 MARC train out to Brunswick (it doesn’t run on the weekends). Pitch a tent on the C&O or at the Brunswick Family Campground, grab breakfast in town in the morning, then head across the bridge into the back roads of Loudoun County. Grab a bottle of coke in Waterford and head over the hill to Leesburg and ride the W&OD until you’re tired, then hop on the Metro to get yourself home. Disclosure: I did this last Thursday, it was loads of fun.
Have a great weekend.
