Hello!
I am Taahira Thompson, and I am elated to be joining WABA as Community Outreach and Coalitions Coordinator.
I will be working as part of the Advocacy Team to promote safe and healthy living opportunities for people in Washington, D.C. I will also spend my time building relationships with D.C. community leaders to expand WABA’s mission and values to more parts of the city.
Before joining WABA I worked in programs and event coordination for a community based organization focused on improving educational outcomes for middle and high school students in Washington, D.C. I built connections with teachers, families, and young people across the city to expand the idea of post-secondary success as they began their transition into adulthood.
As a fourth generation native Washingtonian biking, walking, and safe and accessible public transportation, are important to me. In my free time I can usually be found reading, cooking, and crafting with my friends at the park or neighborhood library.
If you would like to know more about me or talk about any opportunities for community connection you can reach me directly at taahira.thompson@waba.org.
