We are fighting for our beloved public space, East Potomac Park and Hains Point, for the land, the trees, and for everyone who enjoys them. This is OUR space for birding, for biking, for running, walking, angling, golfing – and the administration has threatened its IMMEDIATE removal. This is WABA’s fourth protest, and we need it to be our BIGGEST ONE. YOU MATTER. Your presence matters.
We’re meeting at 9:30 a.m. on bikes (and foot, and truck) to go to Hains Point in a parade, escorted by the rousing and passionate DC Activist Street Band – who are here to help us win this battle. They will be in a truck, and you will be biking or running behind us to Hains Point.
We’ll arrive by 10 a.m., and speakers will begin by 10:15. We’ve confirmed Alison Pearce, Executive Director, Nature Forward as well as Rebecca Miller, Executive Director, DC Preservation League – and we’ve invited politicians and other speakers to join us as well.
We’ll have candy, and costumes strongly encouraged and welcome! Let’s not let the administration SPOOK us out of Hains Point – let’s FIGHT.
If you have any questions, write me at elizabeth.kiker@waba.org. See you next Saturday!
