Hey Friend Hey!

If you’re reading this it’s because you signed up for a WABA event in Ward 7 or Ward 8, you care about your community, and you want to keep up with bike, transit, and events east of the river.

This is a brand-spanking-new newsletter from me, Taahira, a native Washingtonian and your favorite local safe streets advocate. Once a month I’ll drop this off in your inbox with some information about exciting community events, bike stuff, and general transit happenings in Wards 7 and 8.

We may have already passed the first day of autumn, but it’s still not too late to get excited about the season! Fall is traditionally a time for change and for letting go of things you don’t need anymore like:

  • dead and fallen leaves
  • negative mindsets
  • bad habits
  • unmatched socks
  • old ketchup packets in the back of your kitchen junk drawer

You get the picture.

Coincidentally this is also the season of preparing for winter, celebrating all your hard work up until this point of the year and finding joy throughout the seasons.

As you let go of things you don’t need (goodbye expired ketchup packets) fortify yourself against the approaching grip of Old Man Winter, and in the iconic words of OutKast & Goodie Mob, “Git Up, Git Out, & Get Something” (some joy).

Celebrate how far you’ve come this year and find some joy at any of the events listed below!
