Join WABA and the Sierra Club DC chapter for a DC climate ride, Saturday morning, October 25, 2025, starting at 10 am. BYOB, Bring Your Own Bike (and helmet) and ride with us to visit key wetland, park, development, and community-garden sites. We’re huge transit fans too, so our ride will start and end at Metrorail stations. When you register, you can indicate if you’d like to meet up with others to travel by Metro to the ride start.
We’re still working on our ride route, but here’s the working plan: Start at the Capitol Heights Metro station (Ward 7) and ride the Marvin Gaye Trail to Lederer Gardens, a DC urban farm. Bike to the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, and then cross the Anacostia River via Kingman Island. Explore the RFK site – including the location of the proposed new Oklahoma Ave. NE Metro station – and either continue to the National Arboretum and Washington Youth Garden or head directly to Union Market, near the NoMa Gallaudet Metro station.
The total distance will be 8–12 miles, but will involve only very moderate elevation change.
This ride open to all ages 12+ Under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Each rider must be individually registered and you must wear a helmet. E-bikes are great.
Will you join us on October 25? If you have questions or concerns, please contact Eva Sadana with the Sierra Club DB at eva.sadana@sierraclub.org or WABA DC organizer Seth Grimes at seth.grimes@waba.org.
