We at WABA welcome innovation, and we’re closely watching two DDOT innovation pilots.

  • The MicroFreight DC Pilot Program is a test roll-out of Amazon use of cargo e-quads for deliveries to District residences and businesses.
  • The E-Bike Food Delivery Pilot is designed to get more app-based food deliveries in the District of Columbia from gas-powered vehicles onto e-bikes, with the intention of learning how DDOT can support this shift in the long-term.

DDOT staff will present pilot updates Thursday evening, September 3, 7:30–8:30 pm via Zoom. Please attend, ask questions, and share your reactions.

More bikes – and trikes and quads – affordable commercial and personal e-mobility options – mean more support for bike infrastructure as well as less traffic congestion and vehicle pollution. When new commercial options affect current road users, we start with pilot programs in order to learn, adjust, and improve prior to full roll-out. Community members should be part of the process, hence our September 3 DDOT update. Please join us then.
