Maryland’s 2025 state legislative session opens on January 8, but cycling advocates have been preparing behind the scenes for several months. We – WABA and our Bike Maryland allies – have been working with legislators and cycling advocates and coalitions state-wide to develop a slate of strong pro-bicycle, pro-pedestrian, pro-road safety bills.

We’d like to tell you more and enlist your help. Once the session starts, public advocacy will be invaluable in getting our priority bills passed. For that reason, WABA Advocacy has arranged a Zoom session on Thursday, December 5, 2024, 7:30 pm-8:30 pm to bring community members up to speed on WABA’s 2025 state legislative agenda and pro-cycling advocacy plans.

We’ll be joined by a special guest, Senate Judicial Proceedings (JPR) Committee Vice Chair Jeff Waldstreicher, who will join us to brief you on the 2025 legislative calendar, the state transportation budget outlook, and effective advocacy from a legislator’s point of view.
