Please join Ward 3 Bicycle Advocates (W3BA) and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) for a guided Ward 3 community bike ride, Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, starting at 10 am. Our aim for this ride – beyond getting out on what we hope will be a beautiful spring day – is to explore opportunities to grow Ward 3’s protected bikeway network

This will be a one-way, open jaw ride of about seven miles with a number of discussion stops. The route tends downhill and is not strenuous.

We’ll start in Tenleytown and head southwest along Nebraska Ave. NW to New Mexico Ave. NW – from an arterial that needs protected bikeways (where we’ll bike on the sidewalk as needed) to one with excellent protected bike lanes. After that, we’ll take low-stress neighborhood streets and trails, visiting the Palisades Trolley Trail, Arizona Ave. NW, and other planned improvement sites. Then we’ll take the Capital Crescent Trail to the Georgetown waterfront where we’ll end with a bit of socializing and organizing. Post ride, head back north via Rock Creek Park or Metrorail.

The Ward 3 Community Bike Ride ride is free and open to all. Rules:

  • Each rider must be individually registered.
  • You must wear a helmet.
  • Children aged 11 or under must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Riders will not ride ahead of the lead bike.
  • Riders must follow instructions given by any ride marshal.
  • Kids 7 and under should ride on an adult’s bike as a passenger.

Please register, and if you have questions or concerns, please contact WABA DC organizer Seth Grimes at seth.grimes@waba.org. See you April 25!

By registering for this event you agree to follow WABA's Code of Conduct.
