Every year, Arlington County repaves sections of major and local roads across the county. Fresh pavement is the perfect opportunity to redesign the stripes and lane markers because the road must be completely respired from a blank slate. This is the perfect time to easily add bike lanes, remove unnecessary driving lanes, repurpose parking, add safer crossings, or add traffic calming to streets.
