As part of the Duke Street in Motion project, the City of Alexandria is collecting public input on Duke Street’s intersections with Cambridge Road and West Taylor Run Parkway.
Right now, Duke Street has more crashes than any other street in Alexandria. Many crashes involve people walking and biking through these two intersections.
The city has proposed a two-way protected bikeway between Cambridge Road and Telegraph Road. The bikeway will additionally serve as a buffer for the sidewalk. The 0.5 mile bikeway will be part of a 4-mile long route between the new INOVA Hospital complex on the west end and the King Street Metro on the east, the first cross-town, all ages and abilities route.
Help support the cross-town bikeway by taking this survey by January 15th. For Question #12 regarding Cambridge Road, we are encouraging selection of the option that reads “I prefer one-way westbound between West Taylor Run Parkway and Cambridge Road”. For Question #16 regarding West Taylor Run Parkway, we are encouraging rating Option 2 as most preferred/5 out of 5.
