Ride

As the chaos and stress of exams and finals approach, take a deep breath and take time to be outside. A relaxed bike ride is a great way to take a break from studying and appreciate our surroundings.

WABA invites you to join us for the Cycle of Life: Green Youth Ride on Saturday, May 11, from 1 PM to 3 PM. This is a ride for DC students, focusing especially on the environmental impact of biking and its mental health benefits.

We will be meeting at Alethia Tanner Park, and then riding to the Arboretum for some beautiful, nature-filled trails. After some reflection on biking and mindfulness, we will ride back to Union Market for some ice cream (on us!) before finishing out the afternoon back where we started.

If you are a person aged 14 through 18, this event is for you!

You do not need to consider yourself a “cyclist” to participate, but participants should be able to ride a bike for 30 minutes at a time. The total ride length is about 10 miles. (If you do not know how to ride a bike and want to learn, you can learn how to ride at one of WABA’s learn-how-to-ride events. Sign up here: https://waba.org/fun/.)

The Metro is accessible at the NoMa station, there is a Capital Bikeshare dock, some bus routes, as well as street parking. Alethia Tanner park is also directly on the Metropolitan Branch Trail, which is a great route to bike.
