Volunteer

Volunteers are integral to WABA’s events, office management, advocacy, education, and outreach initiatives.

Volunteer opportunities will be posted on this page as they emerge. The best way to stay up-to-date with our volunteer needs are to sign up for our Volunteer and Event Hub email blasts (sign up here or to the right) and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Did you know you can volunteer your way to a free WABA membership?! Volunteer three times in your community or with us to earn a one-year membership. Keep track of the times you’ve volunteered with us and send us an email at membership@waba.org to apply for your membership!

Become a DC Ambassador

Ongoing opportunities

WABA’s outreach team is recruiting a community of volunteers to inspire more bicycling in the District. You can catch the Bike Ambassadors at community events, health fairs, street corners, near trails and major stretches of bike infrastructure, and pulling their billboard on wheels to encourage safe and responsible road use. Bike Ambassadors are at various locations to help answer questions about biking in DC and share tips on how to bike safely. Want to get more involved in the DC region’s biking community, be a DC Bike Ambassador and help celebrate biking all around the DC region. Click here to sign up and join us at our next event!

Volunteer at a WABA Signature Event

Ongoing opportunities

WABA relies on the support of hundreds of volunteers each year to make our signature events a success, including ride marshals, check-in and pitstop support, and office packing. Learn about the upcoming opportunities by getting on the volunteer listserv to the right.

Low Stress Network

Ongoing opportunties

We know that our streets get safer when we organize with our neighbors and demand better places to bike. Our District-wide campaign takes a ward by ward, street by street approach to building support for building the low stress network across DC. Get involved in a campaign at waba.org/network

We also work with grassroots advocates across the region to support better places to bike. Looking to get involved? Check out our Action Center, or send us an email.
