Metropolitan Branch Trail

WABA will work for a completed Metropolitan Branch Trail connecting Union Station in DC to the Silver Spring Transit Center in Montgomery County.

WABA created the initial concept plan for the Metropolitan Branch Trail in the 1990s and has been pushing for the trail’s completion ever since. The southernmost segment in DC is completed between Brookland and Union Station. DC must now design and construct two additional segments to reach the District line. Montgomery County must complete the connection to the Silver Spring Transit Center, including an important grade-separated crossing of Georgia Avenue.  National Park Service must cooperate with the District to allow the connection of the Metropolitan Branch Trail to the existing Anacostia Tributary Trails network in Prince George’s County.

WABA’s advocacy is supported by your membership dollars. Join or donate to WABA today to help advance our advocacy work, including advocating for a better Metropolitan Branch Trail.
