Most e-bikes are now allowed on DC’s off-street trails

In December, DDOT updated the rules for operating e-bikes in DC. The most significant change officially allows e-bikes that travel up to 20 mph on DC’s off-street trails.

Bicycle Stop as Yield Arrives in DC

Stop as yield allows a person on a bike or scooter to maintain some momentum and maneuverability, reduce the time spent in the intersection and minimize exposure to crash risks. DC joins 9 states (as of 2023) that allow bicycle stop as yield in the US.
